On Saturday, March 11th, the Eau Claire Garden Club and the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library will co-sponsor a full day presentation. The morning session (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) is "Mushrooms 101." The afternoon session (1:00 to 4:00 PM) covers "Spring Edibles." Our presenter will be Tavis Lynch. Both sessions are free to the public.

Tavis Lynch has been a mushroom enthusiast for most of his life. His father started teaching him mycological identification as a small child. Tavis is now a 35-year veteran of mushroom cultivation and identification in northwest Wisconsin and is passing on his love of mushrooms to others. He is a mycology instructor for 22 schools in the Upper Midwest and has been teaching for about 12 years.

Tavis is author of "Mushroom Cultivation" (Quarto) and co-author of "The Beginner's Guide to Mushrooms" (Quarto). He specializes in the genus Russala and several other genus. He is active with the Wisconsin Mycological Society, and is the founder of the Northwestern Wisconsin Myco Enthusiast (NoWME) Club as well as an active contributor to everything mushroom-related in the Midwest.

Tavis spearheaded the creation of the mycological curriculum that makes up the backbone of the new Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection Fungi Certification Course, and he will be teaching it starting in 2023.

Tavis is known to be an excellent speaker! More details will be provided as we get closer to the March event.
