Our October meeting is on Monday the 9th. Social time begins at 6:00 PM. The business meeting starts at 6:30 PM.

Guest speaker Barb Barrickman will make a presentation afterward. Healthy Lakes and Rivers practices are simple and inexpensive ways to protect and restore the health of our lakes and rivers through property owners and their participation in habitat restoration and runoff/erosion control projects. The practices include native shoreland plantings, rain gardens, diversions, infiltration projects and “fish sticks”. In addition, the WI DNR offers reimbursement grants of up to $1,000 per practice to eligible property owners. Although tailored to the shoreland property owner these practices can be utilized in any setting to reduce runoff and erosion. The Lake Wissota community has so far completed 63 projects with more planned. Handouts and brochures will be available.
